Pringles Advertising Continued

I have chosen audio visual and print for my two main types of media

Audio-Visual:
Pringles make use of a lot of audio visual types of advertising as they have created many videos in the past years with a clear visibility of the generational gap when comparing the old videos to the new videos.

The first Pringles advert aims to make the product look as delicious as possible. They used the effect whereby they tried to make the man look small like a tiny  fictional character who looks like the person who is always on the Pringles container. This is evident by the moustache and by the way the way the man is dressed. This also causes kids to want the product because children gravitate towards fictional looking characters as they tend to believe in the supernatural a lot of the time. They also talk about their unique packaging as they are one of the few companies that sell their chips in a cylinder. They emphasize on that and they also let the audience know that the quantity is the same compared to companies that sell their chips in a bag. They are comparing their product to another product in favour of their own product. They also talk about how it can be unsealed and resealable. This is useful because most of the other chip bags are not meant to be closed once it is opened and Pringles offers that. The fact that this is an old advert also helps because at that time people were used to normal bagged chips whereas Pringles offered something which was completely different at the time.

The first animated Pringles ad is something that could also mostly be for children to gravitate to as children's main interest of entertainment lies in animated films and shows. This ad uses puppets and toys and creates movement using stop motion. The puppets are eating Pringles and doing child like things such as throwing the Pringles up into their mouth to make it look like it's fun to eat. The characters also put Pringles in their mouth and pretended to be a duck and that could be one of the things that children would like to try with Pringles after seeing that advert. The music that's being used is almost chaotic and it is very energetic which is appropriate for the type of ad being shown. There is also lots of movement on the video to keep the same energy going through out. Towards the end there is a catch phrase that Pringles used which was "Once you pop, you can never stop" which is a marketing strategy and something that they based their brand around off of at that time. They also show a neat view of the actual chips at the end which is nice to see and would cause people to buy as it looks delicious.
